This is the broadest application served by RZR gear pumps. Thanks to their ruggedness, our pumps are used throughout plant utility systems from unloading and transferring diesel between tanks to pressurizing fuel oil for steam boiler and thermal fluid heater feed.
With more than 20 years of experience in diesel pump applications, the RZR design is recognized by customers as the ideal solution for continuous-duty operations that demand reliability, such as those in the utility sector.
Steam Boiler and Thermal Fluid Applications
In this application, RZR pumps are used from tank unloading and transfer through to boosting fuel oil for feeding steam boilers, thermal fluid heaters, and industrial furnaces, operating at pressures up to 30 kgf/cm² (427 psi).
Light and Heavy Oil Boosting
RZR's original design incorporates every feature needed for light and heavy oil boosting applications:
Only 2 bearings one on the pump shaft and one on the internal gear versus the 4 bearings found on external gear pumps
Multi-spring mechanical seal with faces and seats in rugged materials such as silicon carbide and tungsten carbide
Heat-treated shaft and gears manufactured from SAE 8620 material, hardened to 58–60 HRC
Built-in relief valve with multiple pressure settings to protect the entire system
Steam- or thermal-oil-jacketed construction for pumping heavy oils, such as 4A heavy fuel oil
Energy costs have a considerable impact across all industrial segments, which is why RZR has adapted its original pump design to also handle the following alternative fuels:
OC-1A and OC-2A fuel oils
Shale oil
Animal fat
Vegetable oil
Oleine
Marine oily waste (bilge oil)
RZR gear pump models with product-isolated ball bearings are also used for pressurizing light fuels, such as:
